<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEeqnHXWWBaVHMUsCIeNevjXI3AjkmjqW1vvIXMVzal03t7OP93l1PVmd-AvsdPmv-YGs4YzgTP-zzxu85Seyf_r_Tee-mEjHaaHX5pMageN9nKxKqSaQzx-L6QxJ7aaNbd5chEAsDatfd/s1600/snowman-wallpaper.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEeqnHXWWBaVHMUsCIeNevjXI3AjkmjqW1vvIXMVzal03t7OP93l1PVmd-AvsdPmv-YGs4YzgTP-zzxu85Seyf_r_Tee-mEjHaaHX5pMageN9nKxKqSaQzx-L6QxJ7aaNbd5chEAsDatfd/s1600/snowman-wallpaper.jpg" height="265" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Sitting in my studio just looking out at the snow covered trees and basking in the beauty of winter. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">All too often we complain about the cold, the roads, the shoveling but on days like today, it's just too darn pretty to complain.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The bright brilliant white snow is so refreshing... so clean... as it clings to the trees. Like a beautiful painting.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">There really is no purpose to this post other than I just want to share how much I am enjoying the beauty that is New England. I love our 4-seasons! So if you are up north with me in the snow, take a break, make some hot coco and embrace the beauty around you.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: blue;"><b><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Art is everywhere... <span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">When was the last time you sent out a thank you (email or card) thanking your customers or clients for their business? Or better yet a phone call?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>Maybe today is the day to start a new habit.</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">In hard economic times such as this you need to stand out from your competition. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">You need to do excellent work followed by sincere appreciation of those who give you their business. A good job topped off with a thank you is a great way to get repeat business and to also get referrals.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>So take time today to contact just "5 Customers"......... No sales pitch. </b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Just simply to say thanks.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Now if you did that 5 days a week, for a month you would have contacted 100 customers. 100 customers that you took the time to just say thanks. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I guarantee you will surprise a lot of people just because you didn't say anything else but "thanks". </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>Everybody loves to feel appreciated...</b> remember what comes around goes around.</span>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-505840027072405644.post-19227120160840522622012-07-16T13:32:00.001-04:002012-07-16T14:09:39.057-04:00If only I could just draw funny stuff all day…<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I’ve wanted this so

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">For me it’s my <a href="http://www.drawfunnystuff.com/" target="_blank">Cartooning Workshops</a>. I realized how much I
also love teaching and working with kids. Sharing my knowledge of cartooning
has been a double blessing. Yes, I am teaching the kids cartooning but their natural
creativity is constantly replenishing my creative core. They are teaching me how to
be a kid again. To be truly creative, to think outside the box, to just let
myself go without restrictions.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have learned to be really silly again, to laugh at stupid
funny stuff, to just have fun. And my best teachers for those are those kids in
my Kindergarten to Grade 2 workshops. They know how to fully use their
imagination, nobody has restricted them yet. They are just beginning to be
taught; so they are still pulling from their own imagination. Young children's imagination has
no limits… as time goes on knowledge can restrict us.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://zfer.us/tm2AE" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdwuJbwySuWy4bFcgwHXnKRKMbgCZ_mEMTP9XPn8Gg8k13F_pR8ybjMDAqgx69gdz-b53jRoR7LbkF9L2vf8JiWud6AuBEAhHRbakpeTHEM1T_n2cPFw1IJNfidaONR2kjLnPsj5EGP63t/s400/cookiecrd1.png" width="285" /></a></div>
<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">When I first read Al's blog titled <a href="http://alroche.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">"Why Sales People Are More Important Than Astronauts"</a> I said okay he's gone over the deep end now. </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">But out of shear morbid curiosity I kept reading. </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">And much to my surprise, he is so right... Wow, if we didn't have sales people where would we be!!</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>Here is an excerpt from his blog, and I quote:</b></span><br />
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">f a sales person does not sell a house, </span></i><br />
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">no one moves in.</span></i><br />
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">If a sales person does not sell a car, </span></i><br />
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">no one drives away.</span></i><br />
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">If a sales person does not sell an airplane, </span></i><br />
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">no one flies.</span></i><br />
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">If a sales person does not sell a transport truck, nothing gets transported</span></i><br />
<div>
<div>
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></i></div>
<div>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>Wow, he is so right! </b></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Even in my art business I can </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">make great artwork but if no one buys it, I starve,</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> plain and </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">simple. So, if I don't sell my art, then </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">somebody has to... </span><br />
<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So in reality either I am the <a href="http://zfer.us/tm2AE" target="_blank">salesman</a> or the art rep that I hire is the salesman for me. And yes, salesman get a bad rap but the reality is, if it weren't for them, where would even an artist be. We would starve! And as I said before, my two favorite things are eating and sleeping indoors.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">And Al brought about another good point... here's more from his blog post:</span><br />
<a name='more'></a></div>
<div>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div style="font-style: italic;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white; color: red;">You see if the house is not sold, the builders don’t have any more
work. </span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white; color: red;">If the car is not sold, the manufacturer closes and the workers
are out of work. </span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white; color: red;">If the workers are out of work they can’t make
purchases and pay taxes...</span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white; color: red;"><b>You see, not much happens unless a sales person sells something. </b></span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white; color: red;">Even the space ship that the astronaut use to travel in was sold to
NASA by a sales person. And the space program itself have to be
constantly sold every few years to the federal government by a sales
person.</span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white; color: red;"><b>You see, we even need the help of sales people to get us to the moon.</b></span></span></div>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div style="font-style: italic;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
<b>My dad was a salesperson, he wasn't a liar, or sleezy... he was a man of integrity</b>.<br />
And most salespeople are that way too. It is just the few bad apples that make us all think of sales people as those selling that snake oil.<br />
<br />
So they next time you get your paycheck from your job just remember there is some salesperson out there who is selling your companies products or services. And if it wasn't for them there would be no orders, thus no work for you... and no money in your pocket.<br />
<br />
<b>Maybe it's time salespeople got a pat on the back... </b><br />
Honestly where would we be without them.</span></div>

Then I got a real big reality check.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;"><br />At an artist's conference I found out that 50% of an artists time should be spent in marketing themselves. They talked about developing marketing plans, strategies... for an artist??? <span style="font-weight: bold;"><br /><br />Whodda thought!!</span> But it started to make sense.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;"><br />Marketing=Sales! Sales=Money!<br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Money= Eating and Sleeping Indoors...</span><br />Two things I've really become accustomed to.<br /><br /><b style="background-color: white;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red;">Ding, ding, ding!!</span> I think this is something I better do. <a href="http://zfer.us/tm2AE" target="_blank">But how??</a></b></span><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;">There are tons of books, videos, audios, seminars, webinars on how to be successful in getting sales and clients, but boy it can make your head spin. It started to freak me out. Where was I going to find the time to do all this??</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;"><br /> </span><br />
<div style="margin-bottom: .1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: .1pt;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;"><b>Okay I got it... you have to market,</b> but what I found out is that it's not a one shot deal. You have to follow up, multiple times. Why? </span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: .1pt;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: .1pt;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;">You need to keep "you" and "what you do" in the potential customers mind so that when a project comes up, then think of you and call.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: .1pt;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: .1pt;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;">But being consistent with follow-up can be challenging. Getting business is competitive especially in a down economy, so I found out you have to be creative, get their attention, stand out... don't always ask, but give-- info tips, whatever. <b>Think outside the box - be creative.</b><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: .1pt;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: .1pt;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;">I find cards, postcards, emails and ezines a cool way to market myself. They're very simple and cost effective to do... and it doesn't take a lot of time.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: .1pt;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .1pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: .1pt;">
<span class="Apple-style-span"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;">So I looked for something to help me out with doing this and this is <span class="MsoHyperlink"><a href="http://zfer.us/tm2AE">what I've found</a></span>. It works great for me, saves me time, it's inexpensive and who knows, maybe you'll like it as much as I do.</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 130%;"><o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
